Investment portfolio check-up

Do you feel that the investments that your plans links to are due for a review? Are you not comfortable with the level of risk that your plan is exposed to or would you like to review the current investment strategy of your plan?

The performance of the underlying investments is vital to the overall outcome of the plan. Human nature is tricky when it comes to making investment decisions. Whereas in daily life we can easily spot a bargain or when something is overpriced, when people assess an investment all that logic seems to go out of the window.

For instance, buying your favorite clothes brand with 50% discount is a great deal, but hardly anybody feels that way when equity of that same brand is offered at 50% down from the top. On the other hand stocks that are up 50% on last year are considered great deals, yet nobody in their right mind would buy clothes that are up 50% in price on last year. Obviously this analogy is not perfect, but it tries to illustrate that investing can be counterintuitive and that’s what makes it so difficult emotionally for most people.

Risk and return perceptions also differ between people and largely depend on your point of reference. For non-Russian investors investing in Gazprom bonds is perceived as high risk whereas for most Russians it is a blue-chip stock and its debt is valued equivalent in risk to governmental bonds.

Therefore Shoreline understands that the most important aspect of risk & return is how comfortable you feel with your investments and that your investments yield in line with your expectations. If your expectations are not aligned with the risk you are willing to accept we will tell you and offer alternatives.

If your plan is already looked after by Shoreline contact your adviser and schedule a review at a convenient time for you. If your plan is with another company or if you have lost contact with your previous adviser why not consider appointing Shoreline as your adviser going forward?
